Tips for a Better Netbook

Sep
4 Comments »   Posted by Geeky Fashionista |  Category:Totally Geek, tips

My brother recently got a Netbook, rather Mommy came home with it as a gift. Since he is still in school, having his own Netbook is a necessity even if he already has his desktop. He would use it to draft reports and edit notes when there are long breaks in school. The Netbook is also handy when he needs to do group projects at a classmate’s house.

I gave him some tips so the lifespan of his unit is prolonged. You might find these helpful, too.

  • The battery is literally the life. Make sure you charge it correctly before the first use. I think it is called optimizing the battery life. Check the user’s manual for tips in maximizing the battery life. Also, try charging while the unit is turned off.
  • Since most Netbooks only have 1GB RAM, it is advisable to upgrade it right away to 2GB. This will ensure faster processing and ability to multi-task.
  • Delete freeware you probably will not need. These programs take space and memory so deleting them is another way to make them faster. Uninstall via the Add/remove Programs.
  • Buy a sleeve to protect your Netbook.
  • Get or buy the full version of productivity software like Office.

Take care of your Netbook and it will love you back!

We were walking at the mall around lunch time today and I fell in love at first sight! I had to take a second look as her owner walked by. Yes, I am talking about a bag!

LCCabas_Garance

I so love the color! Red is one of my favorite colors! A friend was offering to sell her Garance (but not a Cabas) and I regret that I did not grab the opportunity to buy it. But I am happy for the one who bought it! :D I almost squealed in delight but I had to keep my poise because for sure the husband will react too. I just got myself an LC bag, remember? Someday, you’ll be mine! :D

Facebook: New Process for Accepting Friend Requests

Sep
1 Comment »   Posted by Geeky Fashionista |  Category:Updates, Websites

I was searching the internet for tips on how to get rid of chest acne. Someone I know was hoping to skip going to the dermatologist so he asked me instead if I have ideas. That’s actually what I did since I opened my lappy. But then I got sidetracked when I stumbled upon an article about a new Facebook process for accepting friend requests. The “Ignore” button will now be replaced with a “Not Now” choice aside from “Accept”. This means that the request will be set aside and placed in a new “Hidden Requests” menu which users can access in the future. The person requesting for connection will never receive a “request hidden” notification. Instead he/she will just continue seeing “Awaiting Friend Confirmation” sending a message that you have not taken any action just yet.

All previously marked “Not Now” may be later revisited in the hidden requests where users can either choose “Confirm” or “Delete Request”. The latter option will also prompt the user to mark the person as someone he/she does not know the other party personally and the requester will be blocked from adding the user again in the future. This is good news for all users because abuse will be avoided.

Human Growth Hormone

Sep

I am not a tall person, maybe it is in the genes but I sure hope I was a bit taller. As far as I can remember, the pituitary gland (a small gland located at the base of the brain) is the body part that’s responsible for producing the human growth hormone. This hormone promotes growth and tissue repair & regeneration. While this is produced throughout our lifetime, it slows down when a person reaches teens and dramatically drops in our 30s. Oh well, I guess that makes me a bit hopeless since age has already caught up with me, eh? LOL! To learn more about hgh, click the link. Apparently, there are health and beauty benefits to it and you might be interested to know that.

Sep

We don’t usually go to Megamall but last Tuesday, we braved the after-office crowd because the husband needed to change his eyeglasses. Before going home, we decided to go inside the newly-opened Payless store. I went to my size-aisle (or whatever you call it) and it did not take a minute for me to fall in love with this Montego Bay Club Petals Natural Wedge Sandals:

I did not buy it because I had to think about it first. Even when I told the husband that I was eyeing a wedge sandals, he asked me if I was sure. You know, it’s been a while since I walked in heels! Tomorrow we will go to the store again and I’ll see of the feeling is still there ;)

I also saw some cutie shoes for the little one but we are not yet due to buy her a new pair so we just window-shopped.

Phentermine and Slimming Coffee

Sep

There are a lot of weight loss information in the internet that it is not impossible to come across websites that talk about advantages and disadvantages of certain ingredients in pills and other supplements. It is not surprising also that the curious in me would research further on this. I read one phentermine review where it says this appetite suppressant is tested to work its magic yet users are warned on the possible effect: addiction. And then I read a shocking discovery about the slimming coffee that is making the waves in the weight-loss industry. It has become sought after that my friends and even the husband were convinced to buy some. I told the husband though to stop drinking it until the local BFAD clears it.

I wish our government becomes more proactive in these issues because health should also be given sufficient attention.

Of Binoculars and Experiments

Sep

As a child, I remember our uncle would lend us his binoculars. I am not sure about what type it was we used to played with but it was something similar to this pair of bushnell binoculars:

Our backyard was a large one that a pair of binoculars was “essential” to find cousins during hide and seek! I also remember the same uncle who would show us his experiments and I would be too delighted to see wax turn into soap, for example. Looking back to the old days, I think I was influenced to be a geek by aunts and uncles (who are just older by a few years than me) because most of them are knowledgeable and intelligent. And I am not complaining.
