We need new curtains for our home. Quite embarrassing, what we have now are dated and mismatched (because these came from the old apartment!) and they need to be changed as soon as possible. Needless to say, I am tired of them already! LOL! My mother already asked me to canvass for new ones and we also consider getting blinds. Based on experience, though, blind are harder to clean. So we’ll see about that too.

There is a malicious code that is becoming popular to hackers and black-hat practitioners. It is called Firesheep and the number of downloads have become alarmingly fast. This code allows the hackers to access the cookies of any user on a non-password protected wireless network. It means that you, a clueless user browsing the internet (email, Facebook, Gmail, etc.) is unknowingly sharing your information with a person with Firesheep. This hacker is connected with you as you browse. Firesheep is a point-and-click graphic interface; when a person on an unsecured connection is in the immediate vicinity, the hacker can view the user’s name and photo display and log-in alongside the user. This is quite alarming especially for those who work remotely, they just might compromise confidential information.
The solution for now is to avoid unsecured connections in the malls, universities, coffee shops etc. Better be wary than put yourself at risk. Another way to avoid Firesheep is virtual private network or VPN but this will slow down your connection. Again, better to have slower connection speeds than be attacked.

We are going somewhere with very cold weather in December (think 7-14 C, cold by my tropical standards, that is) that I feel the need to buy thermal wear. I also need thick jacket/s if I want to enjoy the trip. I only have little extra money to splurge on clothing pieces that I just might not be able to wear again so for now I content myself with window shopping. I saw this nice dereon jacket but even if it’s on sale, I can’t afford it, LOL:
A friend is lending me her jackets so maybe I should stop looking online. I don’t need to be tempted this time for I’d rather spend the money while on the trip!

Yesterday PayPal experienced some downtime for almost two hours. Users had a hard time sending or receiving, even just logging in was a an issue. It has something to do with the API and the site would time out. For people like me who depend on PayPal for my freelance job, it could have been a nightmare! i am glad I was out of the house for two consecutive days that I did not feel it. and just just any pro-active site, PayPal engineers were able to resolve it even before the news broke out.

I am not feeling too well. It is a mixture of physical and emotional exhaustion I guess. The tummy is acting up and I need some sleep too. I know this post sounds a little on the negative side so I will not fill you in with the details anymore. I will call it a night after I have collated some samples of outdoor lighting that someone requested me to do.
Maybe that’s what I need: rest. I’ll be better when I get back, promise.

I am on the look-out for nice deals on clothes and stumbled upon this announcement from a friend’s blog:
The words “sweaters” and “20-50% off” definitely caught my attention but I haven’t had the chance to visit the site. Check out the Victoria’s Secret site and you just might score a few steals.

After that last post, I realized that it’s already 6am in this side of the world! Oh my! Last night, I crashed around 10pm and woke up at 2am to start working. At least that’s 4 hours of sleep, noh? I am so blessed the past couple of weeks that I find no reason not to work hard on my tasks. I am thankful for that. But I guess I need to slow down a bit, or else I might need the best anti aging products sooner than I expect! Anyway, one more task and I am done. I need to catch some sleep and hope that the little one will sleep a little longer this morning.
I’ll be back with a better entry!

I was searching for the perfect tanning bed lotions when I came across the list that probably made tech geeks: The 100 Greatest Gadgets. The list includes influential gadgets created since 1923. Why that year you ask? Because that was the year Time started publishing. It is not surprising that both Apple iPod and iPad got into the top five. The Top Ten are as follows:
-
Apple iPod
-
Amazon Kindle
-
Nintendo Game Boy
-
Apple iPad
-
Mattel Electronics Football
-
Apple iPhone
-
Sony Walkman TPS-L2
-
Commodore 64
-
Bose Noise-cancelling Headphones
-
TiVo
Click here to see the entire list. Oh, the choices are actually in random order, Time says, so you can pick which one is the number one for you.

This is probably the Google Lab feature that is the most useful for me. I have multiple email addresses and I use at least 3 of them for feeds and notifications. So it is a normal day to receive tons of email in my mail box. I just skim the subjects, open what I think is interesting and ignore (temporarily) what I do not need. I do not delete anything because I know I can always go back and search. But I also do not like keeping unread messages so I tick all unread, click “More Actions” to drop down and choose Mark as Read. With this Google Lab app, a button is already placed side by side with “Delete” and “More Actions”. That means I am saving myself one click
Save time, too!
