Our TV was sent to the service center because it suddenly would not turn on. The TV rack looks empty without it. (side: you think this space will look better with one of those tv mounts instead?)

The other day, the plug was accidentally pulled out before it was turned off. We figured that was the culprit. A friend suggested to let it rest for a while, something to do about units going bonkers with remote controls. But when it won’t turn on even after a full night’s rest, my brother decided to bring it to the service center. It was initially diagnosed to have a problem with the power supply. We’ll wait until they call and see from there. For now we’ll have to settled with the old CRT TV and no cable.

This tote from Long Champ caught my attention when a friend posted it:

When I checked the LC website, this tote is included in the new Darshan collection (also in yellow).

The bag manufacturer took inspiration in the Indian culture and added a French twist to it. The transparent one caught my attention not because I wanted it for myself. It is because I cannot fathom using one. It will be horror to see through my purse, is why!

Open Source downloads are cheaper alternatives to paid programs. Most if not all are actually free to download and can easily be customized by using plug-ins. One example of a well-known open source software is Firefox. Yes, this is the browser that have seem to snatch the fame from Internet Explorer. This is actually my browser of choice at the moment.
I have not fully explored the possibilities of FF because I currently have installed the plug-ins that I need and actually use. But i digress.
Another useful download is the VLC Media Player. I do not have to worry about converting video files anymore because VLC can play just about anything. The personalized skins are nice too. It’s just bad that this was taken out of iTunes even before I got my iPad (which is still a far fetched dream for me, LOL). VLC is very well-rounded that I can even play home videos I create with VirtualDub, yet another useful open source software you can find in the internet.
For the more technical peeps like my cousin, there are programming tools like PuTTY. This software can help programmers establish secured connections over the internet.
The possibilities with open source downloads are endless. Even chatting the old school way – read: IRC
– has a niche via XChat! The point of this post is really to say that before deciding to pay for something, check first if there is a free alternative that could work too.

In the observance of the Holy Week, I am going offline for a few days. We might not be able to attend Catholic activities but we plan to do Visita Iglesia later tonight and of course attend mass on Easter Sunday. The rest of the time, we will probably just stay home and bond and reflect.
Have a blessed Holy Week everyone!

When I gave up the corporate world, I learned a valuable lesson: that a person can survive as long as she can identify opportunities at hand. When I resigned from the frontline work, I had no concrete plans (it was a mistake) but almost ten years after, I guess I already know what and what won’t work. I’m through franchises, new business ideas, and even working for the family. It is only recently though that I am slowly learning the ropes of better opportunities. I am on my own and I am glad DH is giving me his all-out support.
Just saying.

I used to collect Havaianas. I came to a point when I would buy a new pay at least once a month. But when I got pregnant, all that have changed. I realized motherhood does that to a person. I mean, my priorities immediately changed when we found out we were expecting.
That said, my last pair was bought a while back and I am not updated anymore about new styles. But reading Saab Magalona’s blog, I saw that there is a limited edition Havaianas and she’s giving away a pair via Twitter.
The instructions were pretty simple. I am not posting here because I don’t want competition, LOL! If you want to join, Google for her blog, it is pretty popular anyway :p

Someone (a.k.a. the husband) is currently on a shopping mood. It does not happen all the time, so I let him. Plus I know he deserves to buy stuff for himself every now and then. That is his reward for working so hard. He just bought himself a pair of running shoes last week (can you imagine how expensive they have gotten since running became the “in” thing after badminton?!?) and I will convince him to also buy a new pair of jeans. A pair of rocawear jeans, perhaps?
I am not sure if he will give in as he also needs to invest in new office wear.

This just in: Hackers have breached the security and broken into several servers in Wordpress. This was announced by Automattic, the company behind the widely-used blogging platform. Any information in the server may be currently at risk. It was a low-level root access breach, though, so identifiable user information is unlikely swiped but this is to be confirmed as the company is yet to complete the investigation. Automattic engineers are working to patch any holes in its security. If you are on a Wordpress.org self hosted blog, do not worry as yours was not affected.
Security breaches is an ugly subject. And even if a company is tight about it, hackers are sure to find a way to breach it. Everyone just needs to be vigilant all the time.

Who does not know Micheal Kors?
He is a world renowned fashion designer and a well-loved judge of Project Runway (one of my fave shows!). Anyway, this year, Kors is celebrating his 30 years in the fashion industry. His unique pieces are described as “timeless luxury, pragmatic glamour, and having a modern point of view in both ready to wear and accessories.” His Fall 2011 collection is expectedly amazing:
In Manila, his pieces are exclusively distributed by Store Specialists Inc with stores in Greenbelt 5, Newport City, Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-la Mall and Powerplant Mall.

I have my eyes on this kind of shoes:
These are TOMS. They really look comfortable and I think they fit my rugged-mommy lifestyle. My friends attest to it being so nice on the feet. There are limited sizes available here so I am contemplating if I will ask my sister to order a pair or two for me, and another pair for the little one. Maybe I will
It is also nice that the company is giving a new pair of shoes for a child in need for every purchased pair of TOMS. I love that in case I buy at least one pair, I am able to help a needy child.
