{Window} Shopping Time!

Jul

Shopping is a stress-reliever, and when funds are low (read: me, today), window shopping can take its place. Not that I am too stressed, I was able to sleep albeit not straight and we hosted a spa-party last night, but I am killing some time before I work on my tasks today. I am rushing things before we head out to dinner with my in-laws, a belated birthday dinner for the husband.

Anyway, as I was saying, I am kind of on a window-shopping mode for the past few days, especially for Girl’s Clothing for my DD. See, my sister is coming home for a vacation in December (after years of not visiting!) with her family so I am looking at stuff I can buy and shipped to her address. It is cheaper that way, and I am more sure the items will reach me  ;p I saw these cute items from The White Company, look!

These items are on sale, beat that! :) And perfect too, for our planned beach trip. Because we live in a very tropical country, these clothes are perfect for any day wear. I was not able to stop myself and checked clothes for me too.

I am not done yet browsing the site but I need to go offline for now. I will return for sure because I also saw some bed linen that caught my fancy.

Just a Thought

Something random.

In the car going to the school and already within our town, we saw the Caucasian guy once again. Toothless, he was grinning at us while he stood behind his Tagalog sign that says “dahan dahan lang po” which means we should slow down as we drive by so the flood waters on the street won’t splash into his little store. This guy has been getting our attention every time we pass by his place, as we amusingly say out loud the signage, of course with an accent. And just the fact that he is white-skinned and obviously a foreigner is reason enough for us to talk about him. I am not sure for how long he has been dwelling in our town or in this country but we can’t help but wonder why he decided to settle here. Maybe he is still getting his social security benefits anyway and spending that here increases his purchasing power or maybe he has found love & contentment, we will  never know. But one thing’s for sure, he gets the kick out of watching our townspeople watch him too! :)

How to Enjoy Swimsuit Season This Year

Jul

There’s something really uncomfortable about going to the beach the first time. It’s not the fear of losing a cathedral wedding ring at the beach that haunts us; it’s the fear of over-exposure and fashion faux pas. Not every bathing suit looks good on everybody, due to different body shapes. Luckily, no matter what your body type, there are ways to enjoy swimsuit season this year by learning how to hide parts of the body or draw attention away from them.

Use Beach Accessories

Large floppy hats, sunglasses, and sarongs aren’t just fashionable, but they’re also good for hiding pale skin, flabby tummies, and less than perfect bosoms. Fashion jewelry can be a good way to draw attention away from problem areas to places like ankles and toes using anklets and toe rings. Put on multiple cuff bracelets to draw attention to your wrists and away from a large bosom. Add statement necklaces to draw attention up past a small bosom to the neck area instead. Don’t forget to use sun lotion for those areas that remain exposed otherwise you’ll suffer a fashion faux pas later on.

Use Fashion Prints

Prints can hide a multitude of sins by giving the eye something else to look at besides the body beneath the print. Vertical stripe prints can even make you look thinner when worn on a bathing suit. Floral prints on sarongs can complement a one-tone bathing suit and draw attention away from the upper torso. Don’t forget that you can use prints in scarves and tie them around your hair or on your sun hat to add a flash of color and drama that brings the attention way up to your face. Add some hoop earrings and you can look good even when you’re at the beach. Men can even wear prints on their shorts to add a bit of fun to their time in the sun.

Underwater Camera Goggles

A friend recently took a short trip to the beach down South and I am currently looking at their photos. How I wish I can be in the beach again to relax a bit. Anyway, their photos are awesome. Her husband is a professional photographer and they went with his colleagues. Their videos, especially those taken while they were snorkeling, are even more awesome. Green with envy right there. I asked and she said their friend was using a pair of cool camera goggles like this one:

I am envious because 1) I can never ever go snorkeling in my life and 2) their underwater images were so clear that their experience was made doubly-awesome. I can only live vicariously through their videos.

Catherine in Los Angeles

Catherine Duchess of Cambridge

The Royal couple Prince William and Catherine are currently in California, specifically in LA. What can I say the Lady is stunningly beautiful. She came to America in a lavender Peridot dress by Roksanda Illinic and a pair nude LK Bennett pumps. I will never be able to fit in a similar dress unless I buy fat burners, well, to burn excessive fats. Anyway, the couple have started to meet with officials and businessmen. On Saturday there will be a Polo match where the Prince will play. The couple will stay in the city until Sunday.

iPad necessity or hype

How much time do you spend in front of the computer? Have you ever thought how your life will be without the internet? Now more than ever, people are online almost 24/7. Be it through mobile phones, laptops or other gadgets there’s a huge possibility to find people who are checking their email, Facebook or Twitter at the same time. This is probably the strong effect of technology to the public.

With this entire gadget launch left and right it is very normal for consumers to feel the hype. Take the case of Apple’s latest edition to their long line of ground breaking gadgets, the iPad. Gone are the days when tablet computers are just for those who are often engage in field work, warehouse setting or individuals who are working on rough environments where computers are prone to damages. Now you can see almost anyone, anywhere holding their valuable iPad be it while waiting in line at a restaurant or while having a cup of coffee.

Of course when the company made the announcement about the iPad the gadget lovers are already anticipating its release. But with all these news come the hype. Is it really a good investment? And with quite a heavy price tag how could you justify if it is actually a need or just a want?

Without a doubt it became quite a status symbol. With all its features and advanced settings, this is surely a great help for those who require a portable and reliable tablet computer for work. The real measure to see if you are just giving into hype is if it only provides you with the same amount of benefits as a regular computer.

You know you are in that phase in life when almost everyone you know is pregnant or whose children are celebrating their first birthday parties. For the past month alone, my DD was invited to two awesome parties. And I also know a bunch of friends who are expecting to deliver their babies within the year. So I am expecting baby shower invitations like these to arrive soon too:
