It started when I realized I was running out of phone space. I would bug the husband to back-up my photos (I used to have more than a thousand pictures in my phone and they’re eating up to much space) in his computer since his PC is our main storage for pictures and phone data. Plus hubby is my tech guy and anything computer related, he does for me. He is not very comfortable with the idea of just an occasional backing up of files but then he doesn’t always have time to help me out. So he searched for a nice app that can probably answer my needs. After all, the saying goes: There’s an App for that! Right?
He came across BUMP. Basically it is similar to the old Bluetooth technology where you can share data with another device. But with this app, you literally bump the devices on each other and data such as photos shall be transferred already.

Pardon the quality of the images, I don’t have time to post-process to make them clearer. You just have to download the Bump app, connect to WiFi or 3G (the other device must have Bump and connection too), choose the photos to send, Click Bump now, lightly bump the devices on each other, allow access by clicking Connect, and viola the photos are transferred and automatically saved in the photo library. Location Services for the app must be turned on too.
I said a while ago that I need an app to transfer photos to my laptop right? Yes, Bump can also do that. Just go to https://photos.bu.mp and allow access to your location. Go to your app in the iPhone, Touch or iPad and find the photos that need to be transferred. Click Bump now and lightly bump your device on the laptop’s space bar. Allow connection and see your photos magically transfer to the laptop
I need not connect using a cable to transfer files which for me is fool-proof enough.

To understand it better, you may want to check out this post by Addictive Tips which I found helpful (well, the husband found it for me, LOL!). This also works for Android devices, by the way.
This app is so awesome, I now use it all the time
Try it!

Floral prints have gone photographic and digital too! Most fabrics now are digitally printed, whether with daisies, roses and other type foliage and they are simply amazing. And this does not only apply to dresses but to shoes, bags and other accessories too! Look at these items I found for inspiration:

I think this is another product that will make video recording and online sharing so much easier (much like Sony’s Bloggie Live):
Toshiba announced its first wireless camcorder. They are calling it Camileo Air10. This new product can yield 1080p videos and even 16MP still which you can easily upload online or do live-streaming. Directly upload to YouTube, Facebook, UStream, Picasa and Twitvid without having to download to computer first. Air10 will be available in February for $150.

Speaking of Harry Potter, I found in Twitter a link to this image which shows Harry Potter characters in anime:
I love how the artist was able to capture the personality of them all. And it’s a plus that the generation before Harry was also illustrated. Is there actually a comic/anime version of Harry Potter?

My friends recommended the book Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins a few weeks ago. This one is followed by two more books Catching Fire and Mockingjay, making the story an obvious trilogy. Just before Easter, I was able to finish Book 1 and I am currently halfway through the 2nd book. My phasing is slower these days but I consider myself hooked on the story. The classification is young-adult – yes I still read this type of books, LOL.
According to Wikipedia:
“The Hunger Games trilogy takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as “Panem.” Panem used to consist of a rich Capitol, located somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, and thirteen surrounding, poorer districts which cater to the Capitol’s needs. As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol wherein the thirteenth district was supposedly destroyed, every year one boy and one girl from each of the remaining twelve districts, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, are selected by lottery and forced to participate in the “Hunger Games.” The Games are a televised event where the participants, called “tributes,” must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains. The winning tribute and his/her corresponding district is then rewarded handsomely. It is required viewing for everyone in the districts.”
The main character Katniss becomes a tribute after volunteering to take her sister Prim’s place. Imagine a 16-year old to face possible death head on. Pretty scary huh? But Katniss is not your usual weakling of a teenager. That’s where the story becomes interesting
The movie adaptation is currently in production. I cannot wait to see it. For now I will just have to satisfy myself with the books.

Open Source downloads are cheaper alternatives to paid programs. Most if not all are actually free to download and can easily be customized by using plug-ins. One example of a well-known open source software is Firefox. Yes, this is the browser that have seem to snatch the fame from Internet Explorer. This is actually my browser of choice at the moment.
I have not fully explored the possibilities of FF because I currently have installed the plug-ins that I need and actually use. But i digress.
Another useful download is the VLC Media Player. I do not have to worry about converting video files anymore because VLC can play just about anything. The personalized skins are nice too. It’s just bad that this was taken out of iTunes even before I got my iPad (which is still a far fetched dream for me, LOL). VLC is very well-rounded that I can even play home videos I create with VirtualDub, yet another useful open source software you can find in the internet.
For the more technical peeps like my cousin, there are programming tools like PuTTY. This software can help programmers establish secured connections over the internet.
The possibilities with open source downloads are endless. Even chatting the old school way – read: IRC
– has a niche via XChat! The point of this post is really to say that before deciding to pay for something, check first if there is a free alternative that could work too.

Something caught my attention last night. It is something that I started lusting over since:
It is not your ordinary SD card for the camera. It is a storage device that has wireless capability. This means there is no need for USB cables because you can just connect to your computer to upload in your folders AND upload to sharing sites like Flickr and Facebook. Isn’t that neat? I am hoping I can get one by the time my sister comes home for a vacation.

We are going somewhere with very cold weather in December (think 7-14 C, cold by my tropical standards, that is) that I feel the need to buy thermal wear. I also need thick jacket/s if I want to enjoy the trip. I only have little extra money to splurge on clothing pieces that I just might not be able to wear again so for now I content myself with window shopping. I saw this nice dereon jacket but even if it’s on sale, I can’t afford it, LOL:
A friend is lending me her jackets so maybe I should stop looking online. I don’t need to be tempted this time for I’d rather spend the money while on the trip!
